Anxiety
There it is…
The tension… the NERVES… whenever you face a problem or decision.
Fear, dread, and worry bubble up and take over your mind and body.
The constant obsessing over what’s already happened in the past or what might happen in the future…
It’s utterly exhausting!
Actually, it’s worse than exhausting.
Panic attacks make you feel like you’re going to die: Your heart pounds harder and faster, and it feels like an elephant is sitting on your chest!
You do what you can to avoid them, but doing things like running out of the grocery store is embarrassing. Missing work or school doesn’t help, either – it just adds to the stress.
You put on a smile when people ask if you’re okay, but it’s getting harder to keep up the act.
It often starts in childhood or adolescence…
It might result from abuse, severe loss, unresolved trauma, or other conflicting experiences. It can also be a sign of an underlying medical condition that requires professional support.
Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life, but for those with anxiety disorders, it’s different…
It doesn’t go away, tends to get worse over time, and can result in depression if not treated.
You CAN control your anxiety!
With years of experience with anxiety, I know how to help.
In therapy, you’ll have a warm, accepting environment to learn more about anxiety. You will be able to identify its causes, symptoms, and effects, so you’ll be aware of what triggers it and what to do as it starts to take hold in your mind and body.
You’ll also learn how to cope with it when it happens. There are many effective strategies and relaxation techniques – all of them proven effective for reducing anxiety.
YOU can manage your anxiety… not the other way around!
Depression
More than just sadness or the blues…
That’s normal… but depression isn’t.
Depression involves frequent or prolonged irritability, crying, forgetfulness, hopelessness, and apathy. It saps your motivation to do anything – even get out of bed!
It can be hard to sleep, leaving you foggy. That’s never good for making good decisions!
It changes your life – but not for the better…
You might have weight changes because you never eat or you’re eating all the time.
Work or school performance declines…
Personal relationships are strained…
You no longer participate in hobbies…
You might not know why you feel this way, but if you do, it’s important to get help.
You want to get help, but…
You’re worried your friends or family will think you’re too sensitive… weak… crazy… or that you’re not trying hard enough.
Or checking into a hospital or program might mean too much time away from work… and you don’t want to lose your job.
Don’t worry about any of that… you have to focus on healing and living!
That’s why I’m here.
When you come to therapy, you’ll feel heard… and understood. I have years of experience making people feel safe enough to share their deepest thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
